The COVID-19 outbreak has caused massive worldwide disruption, with significant economic, environmental, and social consequences all across the world. As a response to this, most countries take some measures including the closure of industrial operations and the enforcement of lockdown. The symposium of advance of sustainable engineering aims to provide a venue for engineers, researchers, scholars, and policymakers to explore the challenges of and opportunities from the pandemic on civil engineering, mechanical engineering, manufacturing process and engineering materials, and electrical engineering. For civil engineers, they will play a significant part in the recovery since design and construction services will be needed in the future, and they need to develop new construction methods, materials, and technologies in order to build a sustainable and resilient infrastructure. For manufacturers and engineers, they need to start thinking about the long-term change of their operations and adapt to the “new normal” that has emerged because of the epidemic. We welcome all parties to share their research and thoughts in the symposium.

Keynote Speakers

Dr. Eng. Farid Triawan
Sampoerna University, Indonesia

Dr. Farid Triawan currently is an Associate Professor and the Head of Mechanical Engineering Program, Faculty of Engineering and Technology, Sampoerna University, Indonesia. He also serves as a Visiting Associate Professor at the School of Environment and Society, Tokyo Institute of Technology, Japan. His research fields are “Mechanics of Materials” and “Engineering Education”. Some of his recent research works are ‘investigation of the elastic behavior of porous materials under mixed loading condition’, ‘study on the cavitation damage of epoxy-resin materials’, and ‘a study on the interfacial strenght of bi-materials bonded joint’. In the field of education, he does some studies on measuring the learning outcome of mechanical engineering education.

Prof. Josaphat Tetuko Sri Sumantyo, Ph.D
Chiba University, Japan

Prof. Josaphat ‘Josh’ Tetuko Sri Sumantyo, Ph.D. serves as a full professor at the Center for Environmental Remote Sensing, Universitas Chiba, Japan, and a visiting professor in many other universities. He is one of the patent owners of microstrip antenna (a 12 cm diameter wide and 1.6 mm thick compact-size circular patch antenna) used for direct satellite communications. He is also the inventor of circularly polarized synthetic aperture used in unmanned aerial vehicles, small satellites, and three-dimensional weather forecast radars.

Prof. Andrivo Rusydi, Ph.D
National University of Singapore (NUS), Singapore

Associate Prof. Dr. Andrivo Rusydi is an associate professor and an Indonesian physics scholar in the field of nanotechnology. He currently serves as a full-time researcher and lecturer in nanotechnology and nanoscience in National University of Singapore. His research activities have been carried out in many countries, including Singapore, the USA, Germany, Canada, and others. Some of his research include the study of interplay of spin, charge, orbital and lattice degrees of freedom at interface and surface of novel complex systems and nanostructured strongly correlated electron systems, such magnetic materials, high temperature superconductors, organic semiconductors, and molecular electronics materials.

Dr. Eng. Gagus Ketut Sunnardianto
Indonesian Institute of Science (LIPI), Indonesia

Dr. Eng. Gagus Ketut Sunnardianto’ career as a Post-doctoral Researcher started in 2017 when he worked at City University of Hongkong. He then continued working at the Research Center for Chemistry at the Indonesian Institute of Science (LIPI). He focuses his research in Computational Materials Science, and his expertise is in 2D Materials for Hydrogen Storage Application. He is currently living in the Netherlands and working as a Postdoctoral Researcher, representing LIPI and Indonesia as part of the research team at Delft University of Technology (TU Delft).

Dr. Astri Rinanti Nugroho
Universitas Trisakti, Indonesia

Dr. Astri Rinanti Nugroho, MT. is the Head of Biology and Microbiology Laboratory and the Director of Research Center in Universitas Trisakti. Her research interest focuses on environment, and one of her current research work relates to distribution pattern of e. coli and total coliform at Tanah Sareal District, Bogor City, Indonesia and Biosorption of Cu (Ii) by Scenedesmus obliquus: Optimization in Phovasoli Haemotococcus Medium.

Call for Papers

Authors are requested to submit an abstract to the Organizing Committee by 31 July 2021. The abstract must contain the following section: introduction, aim of the study, method, results, conclusion, and keywords. The abstract must have no longer than 200 words.

[IMPORTANT] To submit an abstract, authors must register first (click here). Then they can submit their abstracts by logging in to this site (menu “Submission System” then “Login”). The submitted abstracts will be selected for presentation. The manuscripts (full papers) should be submitted only after the abstracts are accepted. The paper must be submitted before 10 August 2021. Please go to “Submission System” menu then “Login” to submit the full paper. Selected papers will be published in proceedings (Indexed by Scopus/WoS) / RPI Proceedings. The papers should be written in English and must be between 4 to 6 pages.
